Career in NCC

The National Cadet Corps came into existence on
16 July 1948, under the 31st NCC Act of 1948, based on the recommendation of Pundit H Kunzru Committee. NCC was started with strength of 38,500 Boys Cadets. Girls Cadets were added in the Army Wing in 1949, Air Wing in 1950 and Naval Wing in 1952. In the initial stages, NCC was confined mainly to the urban areas. Today NCC has spread to every corner of the country, having more than 13 lakhs Cadets. The National Cadet Corps, which has both Boys and Girls as cadets, has the basic aim of developing the character qualities in the youth to make them good citizens of the society and worthy leaders of the future in every walk of life.

Attachment Training

Cadets derive immense value through attachment with the Armed Forces units where they experience the functioning and life in military units.  Cadets of all wings go through a period of attachment with respective services of the Armed Forces as follows: -

Youth Exchange Programme (YEP).

  Selected NCC cadets participate in Youth Exchange Programme which is a country to country exchange of cadets belonging to NCC/ equivalent Govt/ youth organizations of friendly countries. They participate in NCC activities of the host country to create an increased awareness and appreciation of each other’s socio-economic and cultural realities. NCC has a vibrant YEP with 11 countries. The benefits of this programme have been widely acknowledged. Our cadets share a strong bond with our YEP partners. As of now more than 100 cadets proceed abroad on YEP annually

Certificate A.

  1. The Cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of total training periods laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years of Junior Division/Wing NCC (All Wings).
  2. In order to count his previous tenure, the break in the NCC Training Tenure of the cadet prior to his appearing in the exam should not exceed more than 12 months at one time.
